LOGODI Supports International Exchange and Cooperation of Local Governments through Human Resource Development

14 foreign government officials from 7 different nations which has a friendly and cooperative relations with Korean local governments and Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) participated in the “Local Administration Development Program (LADP) 2023.”

Started from May 13th. participants shared Korea’s innovation in the fields of administration and digital government.

Following its objectives to support the international exchange of Korean and foreign local governments, LADP is unique in the participants selection process. Korean local governments recommend participants who are from their foreign partner countries. Then those who are recommended from Korean partner governments will be interviewed by LOGODI experts.Then Along with English competency, job relation and working experiences are priority in the qualification test. Through one to one test, LOGODI confirms the list and design the program including the visitation to Korean local government.

This program, which was initiated back in 2000, offers participants the chance to learn, discuss, and personally inspect the current state of affairs of both Korean and foreign local governments.
This year’s participants who are from Cambodia, Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Vietnam, Egypt and the Philippines were invited from MOIS and Korean regional governments, such as Bucheon, Chungcheongnamdo, Gyeongido, Jeollanamdo, Jeollabukdo, Ulsan, All are mid-rank officials serving as a team / section leader, and have completed preliminary online courses back in 2020 and 2021.

Accordingly, this year’s offline courses have emphasis on debate and study visits in order to share Korea’s innovations in administration, good governance, and digital transition strategy. In addition, LOGODI prepared a forum to share each participant’s own municipalities’ innovation, regional development, and public official capability buidling cases.

As a highlight, trainees had a chance to visit their partner local governments to get more information on key policies and inspect on-site implementation status. This visitation program helped participants plan out how these policies could be applied to their own regional governments.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Ady Prasetywan, head of public works service department, South Tangerang City, Indonesia, appreciated to LOGODI and commented that this program was helpful in gaining experience in problem solving, application, and cooperation capabilities.

Mr. Ryu Imchul, president of LOGODI, expressed his hope that all trainees would try to apply the knowledge and experiences they learned in Korea to their respective local governments then they will contribute to their region and nation’s overall development.
