112·119 Reporting Integrated into the “Baro Emergency Reporting App”
※ The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) announced that the ministry provides the “Baro Emergency Reporting App” service, which integrates 112 and 119 reporting into a single mobile app.
By installing the “Baro Emergency Reporting App” which integrates reporting apps operated separately by emergency agencies including the police and firefighting departments into one, citizens can report emergencies to any agency such as police, fire and coast guard at once depending on the type of emergency such as crime, fire, rescue/paramedics and marine incidents.
By using the app, you can promptly report by selecting images or texts even when making a phone call to report is difficult.
The app also provides a multilingual* reporting function for multicultural families or foreigners who may have difficulty speaking Korean to ensure convenient reporting without language barriers.
* English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino
- The language setting can be selected when the user first launches the app, and the language can be changed during use from the ‘My page’ in the menu.
※ Prior to the full launch of the “Baro Emergency Reporting App”, MOIS conducted pilot operations for Family Centers, Support Centers for Foreign workers and the Associations of the Deaf in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do.
During the pilot period, various improvements were made to enhance the user-friendliness of the app by fully taking into account user feedback. These enhancements included changing the screen layout and modifying reporting images and texts.
Ms. A, a married immigrant who participated in the pilot operation, said that “Immigrant women who are not proficient in Korean have faced many difficulties in reporting emergencies.” “I now feel relieved that I can report conveniently in my native language via the “Baro Emergency Reporting App” she added.
※ The “Baro Emergency Reporting App” can be downloaded and installed from the One Store and Play Store for Android phones and from the App Store for iPhones.
Meanwhile, 112 and 119 reporting apps will continue to be available for use for a while.
