Dear Alumni and Friends of LOGODI,

My name is Taufiq Firdaus Al Muzaky from West Java Provincial Government, Indonesia. As the Local Administration Development Program Alumni, It is a great pleasure for me participated in the training program.

As already known together, the world today is facing a formidable threat related to a massive spread of Coronavirus Outbreak (Covid-19). This global pandemic has also become our concern in Indonesia and West Java Province in particular. The confirmed case of Covid-19 in Indonesia is arising day by day. As the most populous Province (Approximately 49,02 Million People), as well as a buffer zone to Jakarta (the capital city of Indonesia), which geographically close to the main epicenter of the spread of the pandemic in the country (Jakarta), causing West Java to be a vulnerable area for the spread of contagious disease outbreak to be more rapidly. We are convinced that, for strengthening efforts combating such a massive spread of the virus, we need to involve broader multi-stakeholder participation. As the pandemic affects many sectors, especially between health and economic variables, it becomes the primary government concern for effective policies.

The Local Administration Development Training as the LOGODI program is great momentum for me getting a broader perspective of how the local government deals with major issues, including the Covid-19 Global Pandemic, as the most recent issues. As the phenomenon is an extraordinary situation, it requires us to raise more effective strategies that we might never experience before. Therefore, I do believe that the following factors seem would be the critical success factors for major government points of view to deal with the challenging situation: leadership, proactive, transparency, scientific, innovative, and collaborative.

Such critical factors seem more comfortable to say, but it is not guaranteed easily to be implemented practically. Therefore, the LADP program brings opportunities for alumni to share their experience practically from their domestic case studies. The online-based training that we took might be different technically by face to face meeting. However, I strongly believe it would not limit our strong spirit of togetherness to strengthen our capacity through global networking. As the pandemic is the global challenge, we must enhance our readiness for any possible consequences as part of the government sector.

Finally, I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to LOGODI President Park Jae Min and the staff of the International Training and Cooperation Division. Through their strong commitment and dedication, the online-based training was running perfectly; thus, we could participate and getting immerse benefits for our capacity as local government officials.

Sincerely,
