The Governor's Office of Sukhbaatar District
Mongolia
“Dear Alumni, I would like to share my experience with the COVID-19 outbreak in Mongolia. As soon as the COVID-19 began to spread, the Mongolian government took sensible precautions and decisive preventative measures. The government 1) halted border crossings from China and Russia, 2) imposed travel bans on people from the hotspots of the coronavirus pandemic, and 3) canceled the Mongolian New Year, Tsagaan Sar, to prevent the transmission of infectious and communicable coronavirus between Ulaanbaatar and other provinces. Those immediate actions have helped the government to control the spread of the virus. Furthermore, the Mongolian government took more rigorous quarantine measures such as 1) checking the temperature regularly, wearing masks, 2) sanitizing public areas, and 3) reinforcing social distance practice. Currently, officers patrol communities regularly to check on people for wearing masks and business curfew. Everyone is wearing a mask at work and in public. I hope that you also protect your loved ones by hand-washing and mask-wearing.”
