LOGODI Host the 4th International Forum for Competency Improvement of Local Government Officials in the Digital Transformation Era

On October 25, President of LOGODI and heads of 11 foreign government officials education and training institutes explored the future direction of public service delivery based on the capacity building of civil servants, and discussed the role of education and training institutions as well as new training methods and directions.

LOGODI invited heads of government officials education and training institutions from across the world and launched a global network among such institutions in 2019 for the first time. Since then, it has been hosting the LOGODI Global Forum annually to share knowledge and experiences on the HRD in the public sector and to expand the network among institutions. Even under the pandemic, the LOGODI Global Forum, in an online format, continued to play its role as a venue for cooperation among institutions, especially at a time of uncertainty.

The forum, which was held face-to-face for the first time in two years, was attended by representatives from 11 foreign countries including Cambodia, Laos, and Mongolia and local government officials from Korea, either in person or online.

At the opening ceremony, Korean experts analyzed the HRD trends in the public sector, touched upon the direction of education and training in the digital transformation era and introduced the National Human Resources Development Platform.

During session 1 and 2, participants joining in person from Cambodia, Kyrgyz, and Sri Lanka, presented cases of their institutions under the theme 'Role of education and training institutions.' Meanwhile, Mongolian and Laotian representatives shared cases on ‘Current Status and Challenges of Digital Competency Development.’ Online participants from Egypt, Myanmar, Peru, Philippines, and Uganda raised questions and entered into active discussions, making the sessions more engaging.

After the forum, the visiting participants joined the additional programs composed of visits to the Jeonju City Government, Jeonju Social Innovation Center, and Digital Government Exhibition and Exeperience Center, learning about Korea’s local administration, government innovation and the current status of digital government.


Minister of the Interior and Safety, Mr. Lee Sang-min, congratulated the 4th forum in his congratulatory remark delivered on video. He also expressed his expectation about the forum that it will provide insights for nurturing agile and creative officials who are much needed in the digital transformation era.
