LOGODI Carries Out the Capacity Building Program for Civil Servants in Ethiopia

LOGODI completed the second round of the Capacity Building Program for Civil Servants in Ethiopia from July 13 to 21, 2022. This training program is a three-year (2021-2023) capacity-building program sponsored by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and operated by LOGODI.

The program's purpose is to support the Ethiopian government officials in enhancing their capacity to implement Ethiopia's Growth and Transformation Plan II (GTP II). Currently, the Ethiopian government is undergoing comprehensive public administration reform, including public service quality improvement and capacity-based human resource management, following changing functions and jurisdiction of several ministries and government institutions.

Since human resources are one of the fundamental driving forces behind economic growth and innovation, LOGODI has designed this program to provide the participants with customized lectures and workshops focused on Human Resource Development and Management for stakeholders from all-rounded aspects for three years.

For the program's first round last year, 22 executive officials of HRD and HRM institutes, such as the Federal Civil Service Commission, Ethiopian Civil Service University, and African Leadership Academy in Ethiopia, participated. This year, twenty participants consisted of the current directors and senior officials of the human resources departments from each ministry of the Ethiopian central government. During the program, the participants had active discussions to lay out an action plan for their departments.

Mr. Hwang Ho-yoon, Director General of LOGODI, expressed his hope at the opening ceremony that this program is an opportunity to share the experience of both countries and support government reorganization and national development. Also, he added, "I hope Ethiopia and South Korea will continue strengthening the friendly relationship between the two countries to achieve peace and prosperity. LOGODI will also contribute to the process."
