The intellectual property(IP) administration information system(KIPOnet) has played a significant role in elevating the standing of the Korean Intellectual Property Office(KIPO) as one of the five IP powerhouses in the world. KIPO,
the first in the world to launch the internet-based e-filing system in 1999, has continued upgrading the system and building on expertise generated in operation. As a result, KIPO has been contributing to a friendly external environment by supporting the developing countries in enhancing their IP administration information systems and helping Korean companies make inroads to overseas markets by disseminating KIPOnet to foreign countries.
KIPOnet, a one-stop service that swiftly handles the patent process from application and examination to registration online, has rapidly spread across the world with the recognition that South Korea is a role model of e-lP administration, along with the system to support this achievement.
