From February 9 to 16, 2020, the LOGODI operated a one-week capacity building program, Study Visit
Program for NAOG Faculty and Senior Officials, for a delegation of the National Academy of
Governance (NAOG) from Mongolia. The delegation, headed by Dr. Tsedev Damiran, Vice Rector of the
NAOG, comprised NAOG faculty members, training managers and IT officer, as well as senior government
officials.
This year is very meaningful for both countries for the reason that it marks the 30th anniversary of
the establishment of formal Korea-Mongolia diplomatic relations. Mongolia is one of the countries
that Korea’s
New Northern Policy (NNP) focuses on to build stronger economic ties.
In 2002, the LOGODI signed an Arrangement Concerning Mutual Exchange and Cooperation in the Fields
of Education and Training of Public Officials with the NAOG. Since then, the LOGODI has been
welcoming NAOG faculty members and senior officials every year and carrying out training programs
focusing on crucial issues raised by the Mongolian government, such as performance management,
government innovation, conflict management, etc. As of 2020, the LOGODI had operated 19 programs
with a total number of 250 participants.
Under the amended Law of Civil Service of Mongolia in 2017, the Mongolian government has initiated a
project to implement online training in a full range from 2020. This year, the government officially
requested the LOGODI to invite NAOG faculty members and senior officials, so that they will get
insights in Korea’s online training development.
Accordingly, the LOGODI tailored the program to provide the participants with an in-depth
understanding of Korea’s online training experiences through special lectures and a seminar on the
topics of E-learning content planning and development, Korean government E-learning platform, etc.
In addition, the participants made study visits to the National Institute for Lifelong Education
(NILE) and the Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Park Jae-min, President of LOGODI, said, "Since 2002, the LOGODI has
been promoting mutual trust and friendly relations with NAOG through the capacity building programs
and onsite training programs. I hope this program will serve as a good opportunity to strengthen the
capacity of the NAOG faculty members and senior officials in terms of online training development in
Mongolia."
